Worshipers of Master Shiva, the Lingayat Group was established way during the Twelfth century by social reformer and thinker, Basavanna and is present in large focus in the the southern part of state of Karnataka. The supporters of this community do not follow polytheism and praise only Master Shiva. They are highly against any kind of caste difference in the community.

Since the Lingayats are known for their convenience, the same shows in their clothing, lifestyle, traditions and events too.

Just like other Native indian areas, previously there used to be kid marriages in the Lingayats when the girls would be wedded off before they accomplished adolescence. But eventually, kid marriages have progressively ceased in town and marriages are held only among grownups. But compared with the previously periods in Native indian, dowry was not a part of Lingayat wedded life but with increasing inconsistencies in community guidelines and sanctity, dowry is often interchanged these periods between the family members and these often makes the wedding silent and expensive event for the Lingayats.

Marriage events in the Lingayat community were previously much more traditional than they are today, and survived for as much as four-five periods. Lingayats are generally easy people following easy traditions, yet of late, their traditions have progressed keeping in synchronize with other wedding traditions of the Karnatic community.

After the videghalne wedding that is the event when the introducing of the wedding occurs with the exchange of nut products and betel results in among the head of both ends of the family members, a puja is offered to Master Ganesha – which was not the habit previously since they are staunch worshippers of Master Shiva. These periods they also praise Master Ganesha and later another wedding called the gugul wedding when a puja is carried out to please Master Virbhadra. These traditions did not really exist previously but have progressed eventually in package with other Karnatic wedding traditions.

Since olden days, the third day and it all day are quite unique in characteristics – the third day includes the wedding protector wedding or the party of the devaka – which is the same for every Lingayat family.

The 4th day has always involved new bride and the bride-groom driving on a horse-back to the mathematics where the wedding would be going on and later return to the bride-groom’s spot for the bride’s griha – pravesh.

But these periods with the idea of atomic family members getting more frequent in Native indian, and personal spiritual and visual choices getting more choices, several Lingayat wedding traditions have modified.

Also the wedding traditions have modified in terms of food being provided since in previously ages; the regular food choice of any Lingayat community member was totally veggie – grain, beat curry, vegetables and dairy. The two primary recipes of the Lingayat marriages included huggi – a planning of grain and milk products boiled together which was used to be professional with raw glucose and another plate was the holagis or the rolly-pollies – which is generally a planning of grain dessert which are full of g flour as well as raw glucose.
